John Mc Donald and Isobel Chambers decided to form "Counties Folk and Barn Dance Agency" to help the Leicestershire Folk music bands and dance sides and to make it easier for local people and associations to find and get first class bands and dance teams in the area. We are now nationwide! John Mc Donald has a wealth of experience in the organisation of events. In 1969 he started organising in his home town of Consett, County Durham with 2 concerts featuring local and regional folk music singers. During his 18 years in Sheffield he ran folk clubs and festivals alongside his own career with his band "Counties" doing concerts and barn dances. He has now been resident in Leicestershire for 15 years and he has continued with his folk career leading the band "Canny Craic", and the barn dance band - "Moonshine Ceilidh Band". This makes John's involvement in the organisation of events a span of 37 years experience. Isobel Chambers is relatively new to the folk scene and is John's fiancé. She plays tenor mandola, piano accordion and bodhran. She has also been involved as a steward in several festivals and she has adapted her organisational skills to the agency which will make it work smoothly for all concerned. Isobel has been involved in organising sailing, rambling and entertainment events for over 20 years.
